The Roots describes itself a “a creative business, a movement and a network,” and is based on the five values of roots, creativity, sustainability, intergenerational and community. It aims to empower young people by developing opportunities to showcase creativity, innovation, and design by educating young people about environmental awareness and sustainability. The Roots are a collective from a range of creative industries including architecture, art, design, landscape, sculpture and education. The Roots aim to inspire GENERATIONS through creativity and sustainability by delivering projects, events, festivals, exhibitions, workshops and programmes focused on young people and given back to community.
The Roots provides engagement, consultation, education, planning, design & build.
We also develop Upcycled works – from art, sculptures, products, furniture and homeware.
Social Enterprise – a venture that uses a business model to create social and environmental value. Social enterprises generate income through trading products or services, and the majority of any revenues are reinvested back in to it’s Purpose, our KAUPAPA!

A social entrepreneur is someone who recognises a social problem and uses entrepreneurial principles to organise, create, and manage a venture to make social change. Social entrepreneurs are to complex social and environmental problems as entrepreneurs are to the face of business.
